When you feel your mind begin to race , and you feel yourself becoming suffocated and weighed down by all of life's pressure I want to encourage you to bring your attention back to your breathing. Next, as slow and as calmly as possible breath some air into and out of your lungs.(I've found inhaling for a count of four, holding for a count of seven, and exhaling for a count of eight works well. Think 4,7,8!)
If your in a public place like work or the supermarket and this is not something you would feel comfortable doing in public, excuse yourself to the restroom. Take two or three minutes to focus solely on your breath. Nothing more. Feel the way you body and lungs feel as the air enters and slowly leaves it. Chances are that afterword you will feel significantly calmer and you will bring your attention and awareness back to the present moment. Because isn't that what life is supposed to be about after all?
Something that I am beginning to see the truth of more and more is that life is meant to be a breath to breath experience. In todays society its so easy to get ahead of ourselves and focus on other things that are outside of the body. Also lets face it, most of the things that we are spending hours over-thinking, over-analyzing, or obsessing about and losing precious hours of sleep over, are circumstances way beyond our own control anyway and just a plain stupid waste of time. So I encourage you to as often as you can slow down, breath, and enjoy life. Enjoy the moment you are in right now. There is always something new to learn or some other way to grow. You may not see it right away, sometimes you have to search for the meaning, but believe me when I say, its there.
You may not be where you want to be yet, but chances are you are where you are meant to be now.
Enjoy the moment
